Chief Seattle Council's Permit-To-Command Guidelines

The Chief Seattle Council and the Skippers and Mates Association has worked to develop a guideline to address requirements to obtain a Permit-To-Command for all Council owned vessels.

The Permit-To-Command is intended to document the training, qualifications, and demonstrated practical skills for an individual who desires to be a responsible person in charge of a vessel owned and operated by the Chief Seattle Council. The Permit-To-Command is not a legal document or license, such as a driver's license or Masters License; it does not grant any legal authority or special privileges.

The Permit-To-Command, when used in conjunction with the Guide to Safe Scouting and BSA Safe Boating/Sailing Standards, will provide for well-trained adults and youth in order to have a safe and enjoyable boating experience for all involved in the Sea Scout program.
